President and Vice-Chancellor East Asia Alumni Reception in Hong Kong

On Feb 28, the President and Vice-Chancellor East Asia Alumni Reception was successfully held in Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Prof
Duncan Ivison presented his Manchester 2035 plan, an ambitious vision set forth by the University President, aimed at guiding our institution into the next decade. This initiative emphasizes collaboration among academia, industry, and the local community to address real-world challenges and drive social progress. Central to his vision is the importance of community feedback. The management recognizes that input from students, faculty, and local alumni community is crucial in shaping the university’s strategies and initiatives.

During the event, Mr. Hon Eric Li, former chair of the Hong Kong Foundation, was presented with a souvenir for his dedication to setting up the entity a decade ago, which effectively channels philanthropic intentions into impactful causes for the University of Manchester and its student and alumni success.

We also extend our gratitude to
Hayley Tsui and Queenie NG, Chairladies of the alumni associations for their wonderful speeches, sharing their Manchester experiences that resonated warmly with the audience.

The night was filled with joy, highlighted by the distribution of various university-branded gifts.

This occasion would not have been as successful without the intelligence and efforts a brilliant team that has worked behind the scene for months.
Richard Screaton, Jo Keown, Markus Karlsson-Jones, Vien C., Emily Mak, Owen Jones, Rella Yuxin Xiong and the rest of the whole East Asia Centre team for their onsite support.
