The Manchester Method

Pioneered by Professor Reg Revans - an advocate of 'action learning' - in the 1960s the Manchester Method is a practical, situation-based learning approach; "learning by doing", if you like.

It focuses on teamwork, practice-based learning and self-reflection and allows students to build on their own experiences to improve their leadership skills and manage complex projects.

Everything that our students learn here from Manchester Global MBA (Part-time) Programme should be able to be applied directly to their working life.

The Manchester Method is not just about delivering the theory; students should be able to get immediate results through the use of:

  • authentic, real-world case studies
  • practical assignments based on their own organisations' business challenges
  • group work with their colleagues from diverse cultures at residential workshops
  • a six-month project with a live client
  • an innovative business simulation exercise that encourages them to act and think as a CEO
  • critical reflection embedded into the programme
