UoM Team Won 3 Awards in OSC Inter-school MBA Charity Challenge

Operation Santa Claus MBA Challenge is an annual fundraising campaign in Hong Kong which is jointly organised by South China Morning Post (SCMP) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK).

A team of five MBA students from The University of Manchester Worldwide (“UoM”) East Asia Centre - formed the “Ginger Heart 2017” team, having also been active in fundraising for a number of charities, with the aim of benefitting the underprivileged in the region. They raised funds by Fintech seminars and shopping mall vouchers, given to the group by its sponsors, and co-organised alumni for a basketball free throw shooting contest plus networking drinks at no costs. The project started from scratch and the students had given their own time on top of their full-time work, workshops and examinations, to design and execute the fund raising plan .

The team, with their enormous efforts via liked-mind AMBS Alumni, students from different intakes, corporates, entrepreneurs, not only exceeded the fund-raising target and closed at HK$100,000, they also won all the Top 3 Awards: “Top Fundraiser Award”, “Fringebacker Outstanding Online Fundraiser Award” and 1st runner up of “Best Santa in Community Contribution”.  A extremely good example of the “Manchester Method” – Learning by Doing.
